what is crossfit?

CrossFit focuses on three key elements:
VARIANCE, FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENTS & INTENSITY.

  • Variance ensures that you are always challenged both physically and mentally.  Workouts are never boring!  The variety keeps your body guessing each time.  The strength of the program comes from its balance/diversity.
  • Functional movements resemble those found in nature and the fitness then transfers directly to your daily routine.  CrossFit helps you do everything better, whether it’s picking up a laundry basket, fighting fires or excelling in a sport.
  • Intensity is added once you have a solid foundation and understanding of the movements and demonstrate it consistently. Intensity is where the results come from with CrossFit.

My Intro to Crossfit

“In late 2005, following shoulder surgery from an injury and subsequent physical therapy, I discovered CrossFit.com on a google search for the term “shoulder therapy”. The article offered some ideas on how to potentially rehabilitate a de-conditioned or injured shoulder. The article was free and I put it into action right away, having concerns about limited strength and range of motion at work (I’m a professional Firefighter outside of CrossFit). The results were in a word, amazing! I began to get more into CrossFit drawn in by common sense approach, and results. Eventually this led me to get certified, begin coaching and opening CrossFit Variance.”
